Adorning Ava have some of the best statement sunnies around for SS15, with a variety of styles to suit all face shapes and styles.




It's hard to know what type of shade to look for but we're here to give you the lowdown to make your decision a little bit easier.


Face shapes

There are four main face shapes we have used to help you decide what type of shade to go for.





Oval: - Geometric Tortoise Shell

Examples: Beyonce, Julianne Hough, Jennifer Anniston, Selena Gomez.

Type of shade: You’re a lucky lady, you’ve got an oval-shaped face. That means you can pull off just about any look when it comes to sunglasses. Rectangle frames are often chosen for their horizontal orientation to balance an oval face’s vertical. And upswept styles are good for complimenting high cheekbones. 
Round - Flat Top Snakeskin Sunglasses

 Examples: Kirten Dunst, Miranda Kerr, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams.

 Type of shade:  Characterized by soft, contoured, feminine features, round faces generally have a width and height that are roughly equivalent. There are a lot of great opportunities to show off your style with a nice pair of shades. Whether you’re out at the beach or going for a drive, geometric shapes like horizontal frames, Wayfarers and rectangle shapes will give your face a longer, thinner look. So offset your contours and gain an elegant edge today.
Square: - Black Round Cat Eye Sunglasses

Examples: Kate Blanchett, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman.

Type of shade: Bold features make you a natural head-turner. Features like a prominent forehead and a strong jawline characterize your distinctive look. This makes you the perfect candidate for a few different sunglass shapes. Try curvier frames like round, oval, cat eye, butterfly and semi-rimless to accentuate your eyes and playfully balance a striking jawline. 

 Heart: - Round Tortoise Shell Sunglasses

Examples: Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, Olsen twins, Scarlett Johansson.

Type of shade: This typically means there’s a good chance you’ve got a broader brow and a narrow chin. You can direct attention downward or elongate your look to even out proportions with the right pair of frames. Go for frames with thin temples, or frames with exaggerated bottoms for heart shapers.

CLASSIC COBALT

It's bold, bright and looks great with a tan! It seems that it's one of the hottest colours to be seen in this SS15!






Anyone from the Kardashians to Reese Witherspoon have been spotted in some beautiful cobalt numbers this May. It is a colour that will suit any colouring, any hair tone and any size. If your not brave enough to go for the full attire, opt for a some cobalt accessories in the form heels, a clutch, jewellery or even a slick of cobalt eye liner!

For a twist on the classic cobalt, throw a clashing colour in such as orange for a 70's glam vibe.

OOTD // PHILLIP LIM STYLE STEAL

In case we hadn't already made it abundantly clear, we absolutely adore the monochrome trend this season! Phillip Lim certainly didn't fail to impress us with his SS15 collection, mixing crisp whites with blocks of black, slashed shapes and nude accessories. We're here to show you how you can recreate one of his runway looks at a fraction of the cost, with a little added sparkle courtesy of Adorning Ava.


The make up artists for the Phillip Lim show kept faces fresh, with nothing but some light contouring, a hint of eye definition and some serious brows. The Sleek Brow Kit is a copy of the Benefit Brow Zings set, and a bargain at only £8.50! You can order it online or in Boots, but it's constantly selling out, so be sure to stock up if you manage to spot it. Throw your hair up in a messy bun and don't worry about any hairspray - set your wispy hairs free for this look.

Since you're sticking to minimal make up, you can really go to town with your jewellery. Our Abby Statement Monochrome Jewel Collar blends in perfectly to the monochrome trend and will complement your colour block look perfectly. At less than £20 for such a statement piece, you can't go wrong!

Although we love this designer ensemble, not all of us can handle baring quite that much stomach so soon after Christmas. We found this Lovers + Friends crop trop with a less extreme cut out to show just a hint of skin. Pair it with this unique asymmetric hem block monochrome skirt from Sheinside for an almost exact match.

Just because we're heading into better weather doesn't mean you can't get out your favourite black leather jacket. With this barely there outfit, you'll feel cold from even the slightest breeze, so be sure to layer up a little. We love this Noisy May number with a zip all the way up to the neck, so you can decide exactly how covered or uncovered you want to be.

Gladiator sandals are set to make a return this season, but for a more feminine take on the trend, try a pair of lace up sandal heels - like these Stuart Weitzman beauties - with ankle detail and a soft nude colour. Add a matching nude handbag, such as this Faith piece, with a choice of strap lengths and boxy shape to finish off your style steal.

MFW // STREET STYLE

Journalists, photographers and bloggers have been out in force over the last two weeks giving the labels a run for their money, wearing some of the hottest outfits of the season. Milan Fashion Week was no different, and this week we're showing you our favourite street style looks from Italy's fashion capital.

OOTD // EMILIO PUCCI '70S STYLE STEAL

SS15 is almost officially upon us, and the high street is already stocking up on designer inspired goodies for the season ahead - including Adorning Ava! We've shown you how to work the monochrome trend with ease, next it's onto the '70s style that's sweeping stores across the nation.


We love the colour of the cut out dress from the Emilio Pucci SS15 show - perfect to wear with a summer tan! We've found this gorgeous River Island racer front asymmetric dress in the same shade of orange, in a design that's a little easier to wear. Orange may seem a daunting choice, especially when you're thinking of what colours to pair it with. If you're ever struggling, just look at a colour wheel and think opposites.


In this case, deep purples and blues are ideal. Our Jazmin Jewel Pendant Necklace (coming soon!) mixes both bright orange and cobalt blue jewels for some serious '70s style. You can still buy our Jazmin Geometric Jewel Choker here in the meantime! We've matched our make up to our necklace, adding a swish of cobalt liquid eyeliner and a hint of white pencil liner for the inner corners. With such bright eyes, it's best to keep your lips toned down. This bronze shade will tone well with your tan without being too overpowering, and the slight shimmer to it will be sure to make you look glowing.

We love the way the team at Emilio Pucci have styled their dress with tan shoes and a matching bag. Tan leather shoes are a summer must have, particularly those with a chunky heel, which luckily makes them much easier to walk in as well! This Steve Madden pair are absolutely to die for, plus they're made with real leather! We found this tan fringe bag at La Moda - an almost identical match to the catwalk for a bargain £22.99! Fringing was a key trend in the '70s, but if a heavily fringed bag is a little too much for your liking, we've got plenty of jewellery pieces on their way soon with delicate chain fringe detailing that's easy for anyone to wear.

To complete the look, make like model Nadja Bender and work L'Oreal Professional techni.art Beach Waves into your hair, either when it's wet or dry, for an ultra cool boho style in minutes.

OOTD // SS15 SNEAK PEEK

The wait is over - our SS15 preview is finally here! Over the coming weeks we'll be adding more sneak peeks at our collection, but for now we've got an exclusive look at some of our monochrome pieces.

Monochrome is set to be one of the biggest trends of the season, and unlike colourful trends it's much easier to wear. We've pulled together a casual evening look for those upcoming barbecues none of us can wait for!


White is a classic summer colour, and when wearing the monochrome trend this season it's important to get in as much white as you can - not least because you'll boil in head to toe black in the summer heat! These simple white MOTO jeans with ripped knees add a little bit of edge to your look. Pair with a white cami vest and wear a longline black kimono to add some contrast.

Chelsea boots arrived several season ago and aren't set to fade into the background yet. Their chunky heels and platform base make them a comfortable and easy way to add some height. We love this matte grey pair from Missguided; plus they're in the sale!

One of our favourite pieces from our SS15 Monochrome trend collection has to be the Abby Statement Monochrome Jewel Collar. It's super chunky and incorporates both black and white to give your necklace some definition. Plus, the thick silver chain goes great with our Miley Chunky Chain Cuff! If you haven't got yours yet,  they're now in the sale for just £4.99!

To complete your look, carry an oversized black clutch, like this amazing Missguided snakeskin effect bag. Either continue the trend throughout your make up with a flick of black eyeliner (heavy winged eyes are a big beauty trend for SS15!) and white nail polish, or add a pop of colour. Neon brights will make their grand return in summer so you can wear two trends in one outfit!

OOTD // EFFORTLESS IN EMERALD

You've loved our Esther Emerald Jewel Collar and we've had to restock it more times than we can count, so we thought it was about time we did an OOTD post on it for you! We've pulled together a look that you can wear day or night, all year round, and still look glam.


Emerald looks great with any natural hair colour, so no matter what your look you can style this colour with ease! We love this emerald chiffon maxi skirt - long enough for winter but lightweight enough for summer too. Wear it with a simple black crop top, or tuck a black t shirt into the skirt if the thought of baring a little midriff after Christmas terrifies you! For the day, wear with a classic black tote bag. For the night, bring out the metallic in your Esther necklace by carrying a gold box clutch. This structured hexagonal bag by Accessoryo is anything but ordinary and will compliment your necklace perfectly.

Beauty-wise, coat your nails in a classic high shien black nail polish, and apply a colour popping coat of deep burgundy lipstick for a striking look in a matter of minutes.

OOTD // CARRY ON WITH CANDY PINK

In our last post we told you how you could carry forward the Lydia Collar into SS15 with ease; this time we show you how to wear pink. Ice cream pastels like candy pink are set to be huge this coming season, so don't be afraid to bring out your inner Barbie girl!


White is one of the ultimate summer colours every year, which is ideal since it goes with near enough every other colour under the sun! Every wardrobe should have a plain white dress in it somewhere, and we think this River Island strappy high neck mini is a great example. The embellished collar means there's no need for a necklace and you can focus purely on finding the perfect earrings to wear it with!

Whether you're dressing for day or night, a white dress will look great with a pair of black shoes, like these Kurt Geiger gladiator sandals or embellished heels. Plus, monochrome is another of SS15's key colour combos, so you can kill two trends with one outfit! Wear with your favourite black bag - we love this snakeskin effect black wrist strap clutch from Topshop for a little more texture.

Our Heidi Pastel Pink Jewel Earrings are seriously oversized and are sure to make a statement. The sweet candy pink colour of the main beads will definitely keep the attention on you, plus they'll compliment your sunkissed tan!

Natural, glowing skin is a big beauty trend in SS15, so don't over do your make up - just add lashings of mascara for some added length and definition. Give your look an extra splash of colour with a couple of coats of vibrant pink nail polish.

Happy New Year everyone! Anybody else already given up on their resolution!? Ah well there's always next year!

With the new year comes new seasons and a chock load of new trends. Keeping up with all of them can be tricky, particularly if you're on a budget. Over the next couple of weeks we're going to show you how you can take transitional pieces from AW14 and style them for SS15, plus we'll be giving you an exclusive sneak peek at our SS15 styles coming soon!


The Lydia Jewel Encrusted Collar - as seen in Look magazine - has been a bestseller at Adorning Ava, and we're down to our last few pieces so get yours before they're gone! Heavily adorned with matte beads, sparkling crystals and creamy pearls, it's the perfect transitional statement necklace. Orange is set to be massive in SS15, so you'd be wise to stock up on whatever orange pieces you can find now before everyone else is after them!

You can't go far wrong with a maxi skirt for spring/summer. They ooze effortless style, and if you like to keep your legs covered but don't want to get too hot, they're an ideal garment to rush about in. Like most retailers (including us!), Debenhams have a massive sale on right now. These bright orange sandals are seriously discounted and much better than flip flops if you're planning on walking around the shops for a while.

I'm a sucker for a clutch bag, but this grey mini satchel is too good to ignore! Light grey can be easily matched with any outfit, and the gold chain and buckle accents add an extra something to the design. River Island also make this bag in black if grey just isn't your thing.

Finally, add your favourite pair of sunnies for some added cool factor. We adore our Round Tortoise Shell Sunglasses with a vintage feel and flattering shape. Plus they're in the sale right now for £3.99! Bargain!

OOTD // NYE SHOWSTOPPER

As 2014 comes to and end (we can't believe how quickly it flew by either!), it's time to celebrate one of if not the biggest party nights of the year. If Christmas didn't seem like a big enough excuse for you to adorn yourself, New Year's Eve is definitely an excuse! Because if you can't go all out on NYE, when can you? Mind your eyes - this Outfit Of The Day so sparkly it's bound to blind you!



Sequin dresses are a NYE classic. We love this Boohoo number with iridescent pink sequins and 3/4 length sleeves - a change from the usual black sequin dresses you see most years. You may have heard by now that our jewellery is also stocked online with Lipsy. Here in the office we're a big fan of the brand, particularly their range with Corrie's Michelle Keegan! We've had a nosy at their current collection and pulled together the perfect outfit for your Christmas Eve or Boxing Day drinks.


We love a good pair of black leggings - they're a little smarter than jeans and much more comfortable. These PU Biker Leggings are super slick and will instantly take a simple top from drab to fab. OOTD // ALL WRAPPED UP

So it's only five days until we'll all be huddled around our Christmas tree opening presents and tucking into the best roast dinner of the year! We've given eachother some great gifts in our office Secret Santa and our desks are covered in Christmas cards - we're definitely in the festive spirit!

Christmas is a time for mixing two styles - cosy and glam. It's lovely being all wrapped up in a thick jumper, but what girl can deny her outfit a little sparkle!? This weekend's Outfit Of The Day is all about fashion for the big day  - we can't wait to try out this look!


You may have seen our Crystal Snowflake Earrings in our last blog post, but they're just as amazing in the day as they are for a night on the town, plus their classic shape means you'll be wearing them every Christmas for years to come!

Navy is a key colour this season. We love these slightly shiny leggings from Topshop and classic navy Vans slip-ons to match. Complete your festive look with everybody's favourite garment this time of year - a Christmas jumper! Whether you prefer real or faux, no wardrobe is complete without a bit a leather. Celebrities such as the Kardashians are often pictured wearing multiple leather pieces. We're here to show you how you can work the look too!

First things first, every girl should own a leather jacket. They can take almost any outfit from drab to fab, and you can accessorize with a fur collar in the colder months. Black leather boots are a must too, as they're versatile and help add height with a chunky heel that's easy to wear all day long!

A black leather tee will give any outfit a slick style. Look out for one which is slightly loose with mesh inserts so you don't get too hot! Wear with either leather leggings or a leather skirt, but don't be afraid to add some colour. A pastel leather skirt - like this powder blue beauty - will instantly make you stand out from the crowd. As the head-to-toe leather look can be a little intense, keep accessories to a minimum. As winter draws closer and the weather gets a little less warm, it's tempting to stuff your entire summer wardrobe in your attic and not leave your onesie for the next few months. But whatever you do, don't hide away your sunnies! Just because it's colder doesn't mean the sun isn't around. There are several reasons why you should dig out your sunglasses. Firstly, when the snow arrives it will reflect the UV rays, meaning you'll need to protect your eyes. Secondly, they will protect you from the wind and the dust it blows around. Plus, they're good to hide under after a hectic weekend!


In winter, it's best to stick to simple sunnies rather than bright summer colours or prints. VICTORIA'S SECRET SHOW 2014

The model line up for the next Victoria's Secret show has now officially been revealed! Alongside the Angels (Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosia, Karlie Kloss, etc.), up and coming models such as Imaan Hammam, Devon Windsor and Jourdan Dunn will all take to the catwalk in some of the most amazingly outrageous lingerie you could ever imagine. London plays host to this year's show on December 9th, with the Angels expected to make several special appearances round the city on the days surrounding.
