OOTD // PHILLIP LIM STYLE STEAL

In case we hadn't already made it abundantly clear, we absolutely adore the monochrome trend this season! Phillip Lim certainly didn't fail to impress us with his SS15 collection, mixing crisp whites with blocks of black, slashed shapes and nude accessories. We're here to show you how you can recreate one of his runway looks at a fraction of the cost, with a little added sparkle courtesy of Adorning Ava.

The make up artists for the Phillip Lim show kept faces fresh, with nothing but some light contouring, a hint of eye definition and some serious brows. The Sleek Brow Kit is a copy of the Benefit Brow Zings set, and a bargain at only £8.50! You can order it online or in Boots, but it's constantly selling out, so be sure to stock up if you manage to spot it. Throw your hair up in a messy bun and don't worry about any hairspray - set your wispy hairs free for this look.

Since you're sticking to minimal make up, you can really go to town with your jewellery. Our Abby Statement Monochrome Jewel Collar blends in perfectly to the monochrome trend and will complement your colour block look perfectly. At less than £20 for such a statement piece, you can't go wrong!

Although we love this designer ensemble, not all of us can handle baring quite that much stomach so soon after Christmas. We found this Lovers + Friends crop trop with a less extreme cut out to show just a hint of skin. Pair it with this unique asymmetric hem block monochrome skirt from Sheinside for an almost exact match.

Just because we're heading into better weather doesn't mean you can't get out your favourite black leather jacket. With this barely there outfit, you'll feel cold from even the slightest breeze, so be sure to layer up a little. We love this Noisy May number with a zip all the way up to the neck, so you can decide exactly how covered or uncovered you want to be.

Gladiator sandals are set to make a return this season, but for a more feminine take on the trend, try a pair of lace up sandal heels - like these Stuart Weitzman beauties - with ankle detail and a soft nude colour. Add a matching nude handbag, such as this Faith piece, with a choice of strap lengths and boxy shape to finish off your style steal.

OOTD // TOM FORD FOR LESS

We'd all love to be able to afford to buy looks straight from the catwalk, but for those of us who have a little less disposable funds, it's great when we can recreate those same looks for less. Tom Ford is known for his tailoring, and a slick black suit is the perfect way to wear the monochrome trend this season. We've pulled together pieces from some of the high street giants and added some adornment to give you a top end Tom Ford look at a fraction of the cost!

A tuxedo blazer is great for day or night, work or play! It's fitted shape means it's smart enough for work, but a satin effect collar adds a touch of glam for the evening. We love this Miss Selfridge number for just £20! Tom Ford paired his blazer with a sheer insert top underneath, like this daring crop top from Topshop. Wear them with these River Island black flare trousers for a sophisticated feel. Wider hems are back this season, so even if you usually go for strictly skinny trousers like me, try on a pair next time you hit the shops - you may just be surprised how well you pull them off!

Pointed court heels are a must for any work or play wardrobe, and this Steve Madden pair are to die for. Although at £69 they're a little more pricey than other high street brands, it only takes one look to notice the difference in quality and they're sure to last you much longer, which is great as their style is timeless.

There's a lot of black in this look, so adding some metalwork and jewels is a must! Our Danica Silver Jewel Cuff is so unique and sure to draw in the compliments. If you're after something more edgy than pretty, our Ayra Black Jewel Tassel Earrings are the ones for you. With long flowing chain detail and faceted gunmetal gems, you can guarantee they'll catch anyone's eye.

To complete this look just like Tom Ford himself, add lashings of black eyeshadow and some salt spray for a texturised hairstyle. We adore this Laura Mercier smoky palette and TIGI Catwalk salt spray - both currently in the sales!

OOTD // JUST RIGHT JUMPSUIT

If you're off on a night out this weekend and dread the thought of wearing a dress in the cold autumn weather but still want to glam up, a jumpsuit is a happy medium! We're here to show you how you can easily turn a simple black jumpsuit into something extra special.

No matter what your body type, a black jumpsuit with a nipped in waist will suit you perfectly. We love this one as it already has some slight embellishment to the bust, but if you'd rather have something with sleeves, your accessories can play a big part in taking your jumpsuit from plain Jane to showstopper in a matter of moments!

Our Rayna Powder Blue Jewel Necklace features colour popping cobalt - one of this season's hottest colours - with plenty of embellishment to add a little glitz to your outfit. Wear it with a matching powder blue blazer and bright blue nails to create a well put together look with little effort.

Gold is always a festive favourite. We adore these River Island heels as they're the perfect mix of simple and statement, with a laser cut ankle strap. Pair with a mini gold box clutch and you're ready to take the night by storm!

Only one more sleep until it's officially the weekend - have a good one girls!

HOW TO STYLE // THE NAVY TREND

Navy seems to be everywhere this season, with Cheap Monday and Temperley London both featuring the blue hue throughout their AW14 catwalk collections, but navy can seem a little daunting to style. Previously, mixing black and navy has been deemed as one of the ultimate fashion no-no's, like wearing pink and red together, making it difficult to know what colours to wear navy with. However this year, the tables have turned and every other designer was seen showing how to style the colours together effortlessly. We're here to show you how you can do the same!

If you're not quite ready for wearing all black and navy, breaking up the colours with other monochromatic shades is a good way to ease yourself into the trend. Adding hints of navy through your make up and accessories will be sure to keep you on trend and add muted pop of colour into any outfit, day or night. We've styled our Lena Navy Floral Jewel Collar - a steal at just £14 - with nail polish to match. Try matte polish for the day, or metallic for the night!

Every girl should own a crisp white shirt, whether you wear them for work or play. We love the embellished collar on this shirt to help add even more sparkle to your neckline. If you want to recreate the same look, why not try taking an old piece of jewellery and applying it to the collar of one of your old shirts?

Black leggings are another must have item for any wardrobe, particularly in the autumn/winter season. Purchase thick pairs (think jeggings style) that will not only keep you warm across the winter months, but also flatter any figure. If you'd prefer something a little different, look out for pairs with quilted, snakeskin or mesh inserts like the ones we've chosen.

Fur gilets are perfect for autumn/winter - both a statement garment and sure to keep you cosy! Pick one up in grey for a versatile piece of outerwear. We also adore these grey Vans slip ons; they're so easy to wear - not as casual as lace ups and simple to dress up. Add a classic black leather bag and your favourite silver watch to complete the look. We know we'll be rocking the navy trend with pride this season!

HOW TO WEAR // STATEMENT EARRINGS

We've been wearing earrings for hundreds of years - even Tutankhamun had his ears pierced! But that doesn't make it any easier to work out how to wear different shapes and styles. From studs to chandeliers, identifying your face shape can help you know which earrings you can wear best, just like it affects the type of hairstyles you'll be best suited to. If you're still confused don't worry; Adorning Ava HQ are here to help!

OVAL

If you have an oval face, then you're in earring heaven! Oval faces are versatile to practically all styles, although soft shapes tend to work better than geometric. When wearing longer pieces, try to pick a pair with a little width to them to complement your face shape. Our Aurea Oversize Pastel Jewel Earrings are perfect, mixing both length and width with both soft and geometric shapes combined.

ROUND

For those of you with round faces, short earrings such as chunky studs can sometimes work against you. Long, dangle earrings however will help to elongate the face and enhance your cheekbones. Who'd have thought earrings could give you a face lift!? Unlike oval faces however, you should stick to styles which have more length than width. Why not try our Multi Jewel Chandelier Earrings to glam up your outfit on your next night out?

HEART

Celebrities with heart-shaped faces include Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars and Taylor Swift, so if you've got one too you can count yourself to be in good company! With structured jawlines and pointed chins, earrings which are wider at the bottom than at the top will help to balance out your face shape and draw attention to your eyes. Slender at the top and chunky at the bottom, our Ava Vintage Jewel Earrings are a perfect match for your face, and they're gorgeous!

SQUARE

If you have a strong jawline and structured cheekbones, you share the same face shape as Angelina Jolie. Square faces can be softened with hoop earrings and round shapes, with a medium to long length. We adore these Zaria Pearl Hoop Earrings - the perfect length with plenty of embellishment!

NARROW

Narrow or oblong faces are best suited to a lot of volume when it comes to hairstyles, and the same goes for earrings. Wearing heavily embellished short dangle earrings will draw attention to the eyes and make your face look less narrow. Our Nina Pastel Jewel Earrings are the perfect pastel shade for this season and will balance out your facial features well.

DIAMOND

Ashley Greene and Vanessa Hudgens both have diamond-shaped faces - cheekbones are the widest part of the face, with a pointed chin and a forehead that tapers at the hairline. If this sounds like a match for you, earrings with more width than length will complement your shape. Short but chunky studs, like our Bright Jewel Cluster Earrings, will look stunning on you and help to enhance your cheekbones.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK // THE RUN DOWN

Once again the designers at NYFW have wowed us all, with out-of-this-world shows and designs to die for. From Ralph Lauren's soft safari look, to Jeremy Scott's bold hippy prints, there's a trend for everyone next season. Here at Adorning Ava we're giving you the run down of SS15's top trends to watch out for and the designers you should be keeping an eye on.

WONDERFUL WHITES

NYFW saw an array of designers carrying the white trend through from AW14 into SS15, with each of them taking a different approach. Erin Fetherston printed vintage themed florals over brilliant whites to create a clean, feminine style - perfect for any garden party. Michael Kors showed us a slightly different interpretation, using floral cut outs over matching white mesh, and adding daisy-esque appliques over floaty midi skirts.

White isn't just a big trend in clothing though, with oversized blooming rings and creamy pearls expected to make an appearance in next season's jewellery. For the perfect pearly piece with a floral hint, our Ayla White Pearl & Jewel Encrusted Necklace definitely deserves a peek at.

SAFARI CHIC

Models took to the catwalk in shades of mustard and khaki, paired with splashes of magenta, cobalt and violet. Ralph Lauren took a  more direct approach to this trend, showing lightweight jackets and trousers covered in utility pockets, alongside sultry silk shirts in hot pink, powerful purple and summer yellow; whereas Osklen models owned the runway with a more modern twist on safari chique. His designs focused more heavily on shades of khaki, sand and white, with clean lines and PVC inserts providing a unique take on the trend. Colour could be seen on his palm and jungle print coordinates and high-waisted skirts and tailored trousers.

Transparency can also be found in SS15's accessories, with chunky perspex bangles and ever-adorned perspex-backed necklaces making a big comeback. Check out our Lexi Clear Perspex Jewel Necklace for a statement piece to carry you through from AW14 into the new year.

SEA BREEZE

Keeping the idea of summer holidays in mind, oceanic shades of blue against shimmering metallics created a dreamy atmosphere across a sea of catwalk models. Our personal favourites for this colour scheme were the king of tailoring Hugo Boss and red carpet favourite Pamella Roland. Boss' models strutted in mini a-line skirts, racer-front fitted midi dresses and crisp shirts in powder blue and navy, whilst Roland's appeared to float down the runway in navy numbers and reflective silver styles.

Your sure to get many a wear out of our transitional Lola Cobalt & Teal Jewel Necklace as it takes you from this season's blue trend and straight into the next.

GO BOLD OR GO HOME

After the dark tones of the autumn/winter season, it's always nice to dress up in some bold brights when the sun starts to come out again. But this year, colours and prints are getting bigger and better than ever, with '70s and '80s vibes being thrown into the mix. Jeremy Scott blew away the crowds and probably blinded the frow with his bright hippy prints, from tie dye oversized t-shirts to far out floral dresses. Although his collection seemed mostly focused on the '70s Woodstock theme, he introduced a few slogan print pieces with an '80s feel - and he's not the only one. Marc by Marc Jacobs took this statement trend by storm with a vast array of slogan tees and punchy polkadots.

The key to this trend? Colour, colour and more colour. Head on over to our Colour Crush trend page to see pieces like this Statement Bright Jewel Necklace and get your colour fix.

That's it for our NYFW run down, but keep an eye out for our AW14 trend tracker and join us over the coming weeks as we follow London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards!
